SPARQ Testing

The SPARQ (Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, Quickness) Rating is the first-ever system designed to quantitatively measure the sport-specific athleticism of sports. Speed is increasingly seen as a key advantage in all team sports, and everyone acknowledges that the pure athleticism of athletes is a crucial factor in the selection of players. The SPARQ Rating gives athletes and coaches a tool to measure the athlete’s dynamic athletic capabilities and to sharpen the focus of training to maximize the athlete’s success on the field.

The SPARQ Rating is a valuable tool for trainers, coaches and athletes for several important reasons. First, it provides the trainer with an objective tool to measure the overall athleticism of a player or athlete. The SPARQ Rating measures and weighs the basic components of dynamic athletic performance in a formula that takes into account the unique demands of a particular sport. Second, the SPARQ database allows a trainer to evaluate an athlete’s dynamic athletic capabilities in relation to other athletes of the same gender and in the same sport, position, and graduation year. Third, and most important, the SPARQ Rating is an important motivational tool that allows athletes to tangibly measure their progress as they train to improve their speed, power, agility, reaction and quickness.
