Developmental Program

How Great Athletes Are Made

SPEED.                                                    POWER.                                                     AGILITY.

Developmental programs review and then reinforce motor patterns for the purpose of movement efficiency and performance. We address these needs by teaching complex movement patterns (speed, strength, energy system development and flexibility). This is accomplished by performing linear acceleration and maximum velocity drills, multidirectional quickness drills, and strength training. We focus on these skills as developmental athletes have established a majority of their physical movement patterns and now need refinement of these patterns for optimal performance enhancement.

 Expect from VSP training:

  • Improved Quick Burst Acceleration Speed
  • Improved “Maximum Velocity” Top Speed
  • Improved Agility, Balance and Flexibility
  • Improved “Dynamic” Power. Increased Power in all of your athletic movements: Linear, Lateral, Change of Direction and Vertical Leap
  • Improved Overall Body Strength
  • Reduction in the likelihood of Acute and Overuse Injuries

BENEFITS TO THE COACH:

·        Better athleticism allows you to teach more complex skills and tactics

·        Fewer injuries to your team throughout the season

·        Puts the science of sports performance to work

VSP training focuses on:
  • Speed, Agility and Coordination
Proper technique for permanent, positive changes in acceleration, deceleration, change of direction and top running speed
  • Strength and Power
Enhance the amount of force produced through increased muscle recruitment

Optimal performance through development of propulsive power
  • Flexibility and Mobility
Unrestricted range of motion, which supports proper mechanics, allows full expression of force production capacity and decreases the likelihood of injury
  • Energy System Development
Optimal energy system adaptation through sport specific conditioning
  • Regeneration and Recovery
Total body recovery through properly designed and cycled programs
  • Injury Prevention
Exercises that address potential problems before injuries occur
